Beginning Violin allows young children to explore the violin before beginning
formal lessons. In small groups, students learn how to hold a violin, use the bow
and produce sound. After six weeks, students are able to play several small

Private violin/viola lessons provide a solid foundation in
note- reading, technique and musicianship. Students
enrolled in private lessons are also encouraged to
participate in workshops, masterclasses and performance
opportunities offered throughout the year.
Our string students also enjoy the variety of Enrichment
Classes offered each semester covering a wide range of
topics, including ensembles and group classes. Students
may enroll in two Enrichment Classes per semester for no
additional class fee.
When do you begin private instruction?
Traditional lessons typically begin around 6 years; however, in
some cases younger students may be accepted, particularly if
graduating from the Beginning Violin Class.
Instrument requirements
Student enrolled in violin or viola lessons must have an
adequate instrument that is appropriately sized for the student.
