Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register?
New and continuing families complete a
registration form each year. There is a $15
annual registration fee (per family) payable the
first semester of enrollment.
Returning students: Please register online
or mail a registration form to the school prior to
August 15.
New students: Please contact the office to
arrange an initial meeting. At this meeting, we
will discuss programming, tuition and
scheduling.
It is assumed that students will continue for the
entire school year unless the school is
otherwise notified. Families automatically
receive an invoice for the Winter Semester
tuition in December.
Private Lesson Information
Lessons are offered for 30, 45, or 60-minutes.
Typically, students who have studied for three
or more years, or play at an intermediate level,
enroll in 45 or 60-minute lessons.
Although the school operates by semester,
lessons may begin at any time during the
school year. Tuition will be prorated based on
the start date.
Teacher Selection
During the initial meeting, we will discuss your
goals, previous experience and availability.
Recommendations for teachers will then be
offered based on your specific needs.
Trial Packs
Students may request a Trial Pack before
committing to the full semester. The cost
including registration fee is $125 for four,
30-minute private lessons.
Do you offer discounts?
Family members or students enrolled in at
least two private lessons receive a 5%
discount off the total tuition. Students
scheduling private lessons before 3 pm
(Monday through Friday) also receive a 5%
discount. Discounts do not apply to Early
Childhood or Summer Programs.
Do you offer scholarships?
Scholarships are occasionally available
based on need and talent. If applicable, this
will be discussed at your initial meeting.
Consideration will be given to motivated
students with financial need who devote a
significant amount of time to their musical
growth.
The Thomas and Mary Shoup Scholarship
was established by owner Jennifer Shoup to
encourage students in the creative and
expressive study of piano. Two scholarships
are awarded annually through audition.

Piano Prep School, The John J. and Evelyn
D. Zelmon Scholarship covers full tuition for
one semester, and is awarded to a motivated
student in financial need.
